Verso L'Alto - Blessed Pier Giorgio Prayer Card
Verso L'Alto - Blessed Pier Giorgio Prayer Card
Verso L'Alto Prayer Card
On June 7, 1925, Pier Giorgio was photographed ascending a face in the Val di Lanzo Italy. He is shown with both feet wedged into footholds and both hands gripping the rock above, poised to pull his powerful body upward.
“Al piedi del monte”- “at the base of the mountain”- he is gazing toward the heavens. On the photograph, Pier Giorgio later wrote, “Verso l’alto,” which translates as “toward the top.”
This became "Blessed" Pier Giorgio’s motto, and was as much about a look toward Heaven as it was a testament to a life of prayer and sense of social responsibility.
