After growing up to be a successful and wealthy merchant like his father, Francesco di Pietro di Bernardone received a message from
God in a dream, and thus began his long journey of finding his faith and becoming one of the most well known saints in the world.
Francisco eventually founded the Franciscan Friars, traveled and preached to many, and received the Stigmata as a sign of his faith and devotion. Saint Francis was particularly focused on aiding the sick and poor, and devoting all his money and time to them and the church.
Saint Francis of Assisi is the patron saint of ecology, animals, and merchants!
